Fitness Checklist for your NYE resolutions

New Year is a common time for making resolutions that should help improve your health and fitness. With so many suggestions and options, it can be really confusing to pick a resolution for yourself.

Here are 12 fitness resolutions that are simple to keep, yet will help you remain fit

  1. Get fresh air

Try taking your lunch outside. or grabbing a brisk walk mid morning or mid day. Ditch the living room, and rejuvenate outdoors. If there is no gap for a breather, enrol for an outdoor workout program, like Naturefit.

  1. Eat clean

Try just a little bit harder to eat more fruits, vegetables and lean meats instead of processed foods and you can see the difference! You can try out our cafe, ‘3 And A Half’, for Healthy Food In Gurgaon with a twist of taste.

  1. Exercise more often

Exercise not only keeps you in good shape physically, but it can also help relieve stress and improve your mood overall. Get yourself a gym membership to ensure that you are working it out! Have a look at the Gold’s Gym’s exciting new memberships.

  1. Be active whenever you can

Pledge that when there isn’t anything to come between you and exercise, you do go ahead and work out. It’s important that you learn to distinguish between ‘can’t’ and ‘can’t be bothered.’ Get yourself a fitbit to track your activities.

  1. Visit the gym often

People tend to stop visiting the gym after the initial enthusiasm fades away. So, make sure that once you’ve signed up, keep going regularly until it becomes a habit.

  1. Be body aware

If you can scan your body regularly throughout the day, you’ll be able to recognize when your posture is less than optimal and correct it. The bonus is that you’ll look and feel instantly taller, slimmer and more graceful.

  1. Start a training journal

You will find that keeping a diary or blog is motivating, fascinating and very useful. It’s also useful if you come up against an injury, or recurring illness, you will know where you went wrong.

  1. Get your fluid intake right

If you are regularly active and rarely drink a glass of the pure stuff, you need to increase your intake. While the cold weather may not make you feel so thirsty, overheated offices and public transport are very dehydrating.

  1. Don’t be too intense in your training

Working hard all the time compromises your immune system and leaves you vulnerable to injury. Apply the hard-easy rule, follow up tough, challenging sessions with something easier and less intense the next day. Our fitness trainers at the Gold’s Gym, can expertly guide you through a workout that suits your needs.

  1. Learn a new activity

Giving something new a try will force your brain and body to master new motor patterns. It’s absorbing, fun and ultimately more rewarding than more of the same old, same old! Enrol in a new activity like Yoga, Spinning or Pilates.

  1. Find a resolution buddy

Whether it’s fitness, health or just life goals, having someone there to push you takes you far along the way.

  1. Don’t give up

Don’t give up on any specific resolution, or on keeping resolutions in general. If you miss a day at the gym, you didn’t blow it completely, just get back on track the next day. Quitting is not an option.
