Intermittent Fasting – Fasting and it’s results

Intermittent fasting is one of the ancient practices to good health, the reason why it is called ancient is because it was practiced by our ancestors. It is one powerful habit that human kind has forgotten.

But now, once again we have re-discovered this ancient method of fasting and are including this in our daily life. It carries huge benefits such as weight loss, increase in energy and the list goes on. People usually get confused between starvation and intermittent, an urban myth among those who follow strict diets. Fasting completely differs from starvation. Starvation is defined as an involuntary absence of food whereas in fasting you choose not to eat for a certain period of time.

Fasting is not rocket science, but it is a part of our everyday life and we humans have done fasting without any detrimental health consequences and consider it as the most powerful therapy. For instance if you take the term breakfast, it is something that we practice everyday knowingly or unknowingly and it means nothing but breaking your fast. Thus, it is a process where body allows itself to burn off that excess body fat and it is nothing but food energy that has been stored in our body.

Intermittent fasting is not just a diet, it is a pattern of scheduling your meals. It does not change what you eat rather it changes when you should eat. It is a great way to shed down your body fat without getting into that fancy diet plan, it is also a great way to keep muscle mass while you’re trying to get lean.

In order to understand how intermittent fasting helps in fat loss, we need to understand two stages of fasting that is the fed state and fasted state.

In fed state when you are eating, your body is absorbing the food and this process lasts for more than three to five hours and after this timespan, the body enters post absorptive state which lasts for more than eight to twelve hours and at this point you enter the fasted state.

Fasted state is simply the opposite of fed state. During this process our body burns those fats that are inaccessible during the fed state. It is also one of the main reasons why many people lose fat without changing what they eat.

Fasting offers many unique advantages and many people try intermittent fasting to shed that extra weight and considered to be one of the simplest strategies to keep you in shape.

Intermitting fast helps us to find a way in sustainable eating habits by giving us wide range of health benefits without requiring massive change in our lifestyle.
